“Gavin Douglas’ Eneados, the first complete translation of Virgil’s Aeneid into English, was completed 500 years ago on 22 July 1513.
To mark this quincentenary – and also that of the Battle of Flodden – the University of Birmingham is hosting a one-day workshop on 9 September 2013 in the Michael Tippet Room, Staff House (Edgbaston Campus).
Professor Priscilla Bawcutt (University of Liverpool) will offer a keynote address. Other confirmed speakers include: Dr Anna Caughey (University of Oxford), Lucy Hinnie (University of Edinburgh), Conor Leahy (University of Oxford), Dr Sally Mapstone (University of Oxford), Dr Nicola Royan (University of Nottingham) and Thomas Rutledge (University of East Anglia).”
